How to trim audio

  1. 1

    Choose your audio

Choose an MP3 song, voice note, or another supported audio file from your device. Listen to the source and find the section you want to edit.

  2. 2

    Keep or remove a section

Choose Keep Selection or Remove Selection. Drag waveform handles to resize the range, move its center to keep the same length, or enter Start and End times. Play previews the audio that will remain.

  3. 3

    Trim and download

Optionally enable Fade In or Fade Out and set each duration. Choose MP3 or WAV, then click Trim audio or Remove selection. Listen to the exported result to check the fades before downloading.

Select, cut, and fade your audio

Keep a clip or remove an unwanted section, then add optional fades and export a new audio file in your browser.

01

Adjust your selection on the waveform

Drag the start and end handles to set your range. Move the whole selection to another part of the recording while keeping the same length.

  • Enter Start and End times in seconds
  • Fine-tune the range with keyboard controls
  • Check the selected or remaining duration
02

Keep a clip or remove a section

Keep Selection exports only your chosen range. Remove Selection cuts that range out and joins the remaining audio, so you can remove an interruption in the middle of a recording.

  • Keep a passage from a song or voice recording
  • Remove unwanted audio at the start, middle, or end
  • Preview the kept audio while skipping the removed section
03

Set fade in and fade out independently

Soften the beginning or end of your edited audio. Enable either fade, or both, and set a separate duration for each. Listen to the exported result to hear the fades.

  • Control Fade In and Fade Out separately
  • Set each fade from 0.1 to 30 seconds
  • Keep the combined fade times within the output duration
04

Preview and export locally

Preview the kept audio before processing, then listen to the exported result before downloading. Your audio is processed in your browser and stays on your device.

  • Press Space outside form controls to play or pause
  • Export MP3 with a chosen bitrate or uncompressed WAV
  • Keep the previous download while trimming again

Audio Trimmer FAQ

How do I cut audio online using the waveform?
Drag the waveform handles to resize a clip, or drag the selected area to move it while keeping its duration. Start and End stay synchronized. Use arrow keys for 0.1-second adjustments or Shift with an arrow key for 1-second steps. Preview before exporting.
Can I remove a section from the middle of an audio file?
Yes. Choose Remove Selection and mark the section you want to delete. The tool joins the audio before and after it. You can also remove audio from either end, or use Keep Selection to export only the chosen range. At least 0.1 seconds of audio must remain.
Does trimming change the audio quality?
The audio you keep is decoded and encoded during export. MP3 uses lossy compression at your chosen bitrate, while WAV creates an uncompressed output. Trimming does not improve source quality or promise a lossless copy.
Can I preview cuts and fades before downloading?
Play previews the selected range in Keep Selection mode. In Remove Selection mode, it skips the section marked for removal. Press Space outside form controls to play or pause. This source preview does not apply fades; process the edit and listen to Result to hear them.
Is my audio uploaded or saved online?
Your audio stays in your browser and is not uploaded or saved online by this tool. Processing runs on your device. The browser downloads the processing program from a CDN when needed, but that CDN does not receive your audio file.
Can I trim MP3, WAV, and other audio files online?
You can choose MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, or AAC audio within the supported channel, sample rate, and device resource limits. Browser playback support can vary. Export the edited audio as MP3 with a chosen bitrate or as WAV.
Why is the exported file smaller or shorter?
Keep mode exports the selected length; Remove mode exports the total length minus the deleted section. Fade in and out do not change the duration. File size also depends on format, bitrate, sample rate, and channels.
What happens if I change Start or End after export?
Changing the range, mode, or fades does not modify the previous export. Result stays playable and downloadable while you process another edit, even if processing fails or is cancelled. Only a successful export replaces it. Replacing the source clears the old result.
