How to Record Your Voice Online

  1. 1

    Allow your microphone

Click Start Recording and allow microphone access. Expand Recording options to select a microphone or adjust the countdown before you begin.

  2. 2

Speak into your microphone and watch the waveform build. Pause and resume as needed, then stop to preview the completed recording.

  3. 3

    Download your recording

Voice Recording for Everyday Tasks

Capture speech, review each take, and save audio for your next step.

01

Control each recording

Start only when you are ready. The waveform builds along the recording timeline, and pause lets you take a break within the same recording.

  • Optional countdown before capture
  • Pause and resume without starting a new take
  • Preview locally before downloading
02

Capture spoken notes

Record reminders or ideas while they are fresh. Browser recording aids can help with everyday speech, depending on your microphone and browser.

  • Choose an available microphone
  • Request echo and noise suppression
  • Turn off automatic gain for natural dynamics
03

Practice a narration

Record a voice-over draft and listen back before the next take. Re-record when you are ready, and save any audio you want to keep first.

  • Review a complete take with playback
  • Keep pauses out of the recording
  • Start a new take or discard the current recording
04

Save audio for your workflow

Choose MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG or AAC for your next task. Use your saved file in an editor, a presentation, or another audio tool.

  • Set MP3, M4A or AAC bitrate, or OGG quality
  • WAV and FLAC keep the captured sample rate and channels with 16-bit samples
  • Export failure keeps the recording and prior output

Voice Recorder FAQ

Why does the recorder need microphone permission?
The browser must have your permission to capture microphone audio. Access is requested only after you click Start Recording. Use HTTPS or localhost, and check both browser permissions and system settings if recording is blocked.
Is my recording uploaded?
Microphone audio is recorded and processed locally in this browser. AudioBento does not receive your recording. The audio engine may download its code on your first export, but your audio stays on your device during that operation.
What happens when I pause a recording?
Pause suspends MediaRecorder capture within the same take. Resume continues collecting audio without creating a new recording. The timer excludes the paused interval. Stop finishes the take and waits for the browser to deliver its last audio segment.
Do recording aids remove all background noise?
No. Echo cancellation, noise suppression, and automatic gain control request the browser’s built-in processing. They are not AI enhancement or volume normalization. Support varies, and these options can change dynamics when recording music.
Which download format should I choose?
MP3, M4A and AAC use your selected bitrate. M4A contains AAC audio; AAC output uses an ADTS stream. OGG uses Vorbis with your selected quality. WAV exports 16-bit PCM, and FLAC compresses 16-bit samples without further loss; both keep the captured sample rate and channels. Native recording uses Opus or AAC, so WAV and FLAC cannot restore detail already lost during capture.
Why can the first download take longer?
Recording and preview use native browser media APIs. Download loads the FFmpeg audio engine on demand and encodes the recording into your selected format. Keep the page open during export. A failed export retains the recording and any previous valid output.
Can I record for an unlimited time?
There is no fixed short duration limit, but recording is bounded by browser memory and device resources. At the native audio budget, capture stops and retains collected data. Large WAV exports may exceed the output budget; choose MP3 for a smaller file.
Will my recording survive a refresh or background interruption?
Recordings stay in memory and are not automatically saved. Refreshing or closing the page can lose them. Mobile browsers may interrupt capture in the background or when the screen locks. After downloading, check that your browser saved the file.
