Adjust pitch and speed with real-time preview. View key and tempo estimates, and export MP3 or WAV in your browser.

How to change audio pitch

  1. 1

    Choose your audio

Choose audio from your device. Key and tempo analysis runs in the background while you prepare the playback settings.

  2. 2

    Set pitch and speed

Set Pitch and Speed, then press Play to hear Preview. Turn off Snap to semitones for fine tuning. Switch to Original for comparison, or enable Repeat in either mode.

  3. 3

    Export the full track

Choose MP3 or WAV and click Change Pitch. Play the complete exported result, then download it directly to your device.

Pitch and speed controls for your audio

Listen while you adjust pitch and speed, use key and tempo estimates as a reference, and export the complete recording when your settings are ready.

01

Adjust pitch and speed as you listen

Hear current settings across the full track without generating a separate preview file. Switch between Original and Preview on one source waveform. Pitch changes the key; Speed changes the playback duration independently.

  • Pitch range: -12 to +12 semitones
  • Independent Speed: 0.50× to 1.50×
  • Continue playing while you adjust either slider

02

Find a comfortable pace for practice

Lower a backing track to suit your vocal range, or slow a passage to work on timing. Pitch and Speed remain independent. Enable Repeat to hear the whole track again in either Original or Preview without changing the export.

  • Use whole semitones or fine-tune in 0.01-semitone steps
  • Slow playback while keeping the chosen pitch
  • Repeat Original or Preview for practice

03

Keep key and tempo in view

Background analysis estimates the original key and BPM from bounded audio sections. Current shows how your settings change those references. Unclear tonal or rhythmic content can show Unknown, and a song may change key or tempo.

  • Independent key and tempo estimates
  • Current BPM follows the selected Speed
  • Fractional shifts show an explicit cents offset

Export MP3 with a selectable bitrate or WAV for uncompressed audio. Result plays the last successful export with its own settings. Preview and export use different processing paths, so their tone can differ even at matching settings.

Pitch Changer questions

Can I change pitch without changing audio speed?
Yes. Leave Speed at 1.00× and adjust Pitch. Preview changes pitch as you listen, while full-track export keeps the expected duration. Set Speed separately for a shorter or longer recording. Encoding can add a small timing difference.
How far can I shift the pitch?
Pitch ranges from -12 to +12 semitones with whole-semitone snapping enabled by default. Turn off Snap to semitones for 0.01-semitone steps (1 cent). Enabling it rounds the current Pitch to the nearest whole semitone. Current Key follows the detected key and Pitch setting when a reliable estimate is available. Larger shifts can introduce artifacts.
Can I change only the speed?
Yes. Leave Pitch at zero and choose a Speed from 0.50× to 1.50×. Speed adjusts in 0.01× steps. Preview times and Estimated Duration update with Speed. Original shows source times. The result player uses the actual exported audio duration.
What does Preview play?
Preview is selected by default and prepares on first playback. Switch to Original for comparison while keeping source position and playback state. Repeat loops either listening mode and does not affect export. Audio never starts automatically.
Which audio formats can I use?
Open MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, or AAC within the displayed limits. Playback and analysis depend on browser codec support; unsupported analysis shows Unknown. Export MP3 or WAV independently, even when real-time Preview is unavailable.
Will pitch shifting preserve the original quality?
Pitch shifting can introduce artifacts, especially at extreme pitch and speed combinations. Preview and export may sound different. MP3 adds lossy encoding. WAV avoids that extra loss but cannot undo processing artifacts. Listen to Result before downloading.
Does this tool detect musical key or BPM?
Background analysis estimates key and BPM from short sections across the recording. Tempo candidates range from 60 to 180 BPM. Ambiguous keys, half-time or double-time rhythms, and unclear content can show Unknown independently. Current follows your Pitch and Speed settings; fractional pitch shifts show cents. BPM is displayed as a rounded integer; Current is calculated from the unrounded estimate. Songs can change key or tempo, so use these estimates as a reference.
Is my audio uploaded, and can I keep an earlier result?
Audio stays in your browser for playback, analysis, and export. Earlier results remain available if Preview, analysis, or a later export fails or is cancelled. Replacing the source clears its results. Download before leaving or refreshing.
