How to convert audio to WAV

  1. 1

    Choose your source audio

Add supported recordings or compressed audio files. Review the batch list before preparing WAV exports for editing.

  2. 2

    Choose an output format

WAV is selected by default and needs no bitrate setting. Choose another format if needed; MP3, M4A and AAC show bitrate options.

  3. 3

    Convert and save WAV

Convert files locally and check each WAV output. Use Download for a single-file list, or Download ZIP for successful exports from multiple inputs. Individual row downloads remain available.

WAV conversion for your workflow

Create uncompressed audio files for editing with clear PCM precision rules.

01

Export uncompressed WAV audio

WAV is the default choice for uncompressed PCM audio. Select another output format in Settings when needed; WAV exports can be much larger than MP3 or AAC, especially for longer recordings.

  • WAV selected by default
  • No arbitrary bitrate setting
  • Original metadata is checked before conversion

02

Bring compressed audio into an editor

Create WAV input for timeline editing or applications that work with linear PCM. Conversion changes the file format, not the information previously removed by MP3, AAC or other lossy encoders.

  • Useful for editing workflows
  • Compatible PCM sample output
  • Previously lost detail stays lost

Use explicit sample-precision rules

When supported source PCM precision is available, the converter retains its appropriate bit depth, including 32-bit floating-point WAV. Unsupported precision and metadata are reported instead of silently inventing original detail.

  • 16-bit export for compressed sources
  • Preserve supported PCM precision
  • Flag incompatible precision clearly

Convert multiple files without uploads

Process several source recordings in sequence. Download completed WAV files individually, or create a ZIP from successful results while failed or cancelled items remain separate.

  • Per-file status and retry
  • Download successful files anytime
  • Audio stays in your browser

WAV conversion questions

What audio formats can I convert to WAV?
The batch accepts MP3, WAV, FLAC, M4A, OGG and AAC sources when their internal codecs can be decoded. The converter checks the contents of each file, not only its extension. Incompatible files are reported without blocking other results.
Is converting MP3 to WAV lossless?
The WAV output is uncompressed PCM, but converting a lossy MP3 does not recover high frequencies or other information removed during MP3 encoding. It avoids an additional lossy output codec, not the quality loss already present in the source.
What limits apply to WAV conversion?
You can add up to 10 files on desktop or 5 on mobile, within total input budgets of 200 MB or 100 MB. WAV exports expand to raw sample data, so some long recordings may exceed output or memory limits.
Which WAV sample format does the converter use?
Compressed inputs normally export as 16-bit PCM WAV. Supported lossless integer PCM may retain 16-, 24- or 32-bit depth, while supported 32-bit float sources can export floating-point WAV. Invalid or unsupported sample precision is rejected.
Why is my WAV file much larger than the source?
WAV normally stores uncompressed samples, while MP3, AAC and other formats use compression. The resulting WAV file can be many times larger, depending on duration, channels, sample rate and sample precision. This is expected behavior.
Can I convert an existing WAV file again?
Yes, WAV files can be read and exported again when their codec and sample format are supported. Re-exporting does not improve sound quality. It can change the container representation, so keep the original if an exact binary copy matters.
Can I download only successful WAV exports?
Yes. Each completed output can be downloaded separately. Download ZIP includes successful files in the list, even if you switched formats between batches. Failed, cancelled and unfinished items are excluded, and the ZIP has a memory budget. For a single-file list, use Download to save the audio result directly without a ZIP.
Does conversion upload my WAV or source files?
No. Conversion runs locally in your browser. FFmpeg engine code may download and be cached, but the selected audio and results are not sent to the conversion service. Keep downloaded files because results are cleared when you leave.
